• Tree ferns are ferns that turn into trees. There are around 650 species of tree ferns. They do not produce flowers, fruits, or seeds, multiplying on their own through spores and producing sprouts from their stems, relying on no pollinators to reproduce.

  • Eco Lodge Itororó is located in its own 50 acres of secondary and primary Atlantic Rainforest with over 200 species of birds recorded in the lodge grounds, it’s also strategically located to be able to easily reach the whole elevational range of the Serra do Mar Mountains from 50m – 2300m above sea level, therefore giving easy access to a wide and diverse variety of bird species.

  • In 2001, Eco Lodge Itororó had two suites and welcomed its first guests. Until then, Itororó had been the family vacation home since 1960. Today, the lodge has eight suites and two additional cabins. We still aim to keep it small, cozy, and quiet.

  • Our latest tour left Rio de Janeiro, the wonderful city, and headed to Eco Lodge Itororó in the Atlantic Rain Forest mountains of the Serra dos Órgãos, with a breathtaking stop for a few hours of pure delight watching the Golden Lion Tamarin their natural retreat.

  • A recent and fascinating discovery in Brazil's Atlantic Rainforest has captured the attention of researchers and nature enthusiasts alike: the Guapiaçu cherry. This fruit-bearing tree, scientifically named Eugenia guapiassuana, was identified in the Guapiaçu Ecological Reserve (REGUA), one of our partners.
